Environmentally friendly

Taking responsibility for what we make and how we make it is at the heart of what we do, and we are proud of our environmental credentials.

Our skilled team bring considered and inspiring designs to life using sustainable materials and environmentally-friendly practices. The end result? Beautifully bespoke interiors which are sustainable by design.

Material innovation

We strive to operate using carefully selected materials that are supported by initiatives which protect and replenish the natural resources used.

Furniture made using the best quality sustainable materials

All our timber is FSC or PEFC certified; both organisations promote the dedicated management of the world’s forests to ensure their ongoing future. Each operates using the three pillars of sustainability: sustainable forest management creates outcomes that are socially just, ecologically sound and economically viable.

We use Accoya for furniture doors, frames and painted joinery. This modified timber sourced from fast-growing, abundantly available certified wood species resists rot, defies the elements and stays strong for decades. As the leading, long-life sustainable wood with a 50-year guarantee, its durability and dimensional stability dramatically reduces its environmental impact. Alongside this, we use birch ply for our custom-made kitchen cabinetry; this fine-textured and dense timber renowned for its excellent strength and durability ensures your cabinetry is strong enough to last a lifetime.

We specialise in supplying and fitting bespoke wooden floors of FSC® and PEFC® certified engineered oak and walnut. Engineered wood flooring combines multiple layers of timber with a solid wood veneer and is particularly tree-friendly because it uses less of the slow-growth hardwoods.

Friendly finishes

We’re always exploring innovation and developments in the industry so we can finish each and every piece we make with minimal environmental impact.

Silestone and Corian are our preferred kitchen countertop materials; as well as being highly durable and long-lasting these materials can easily be repaired and renewed, minimising landfill.

Our paint finishes are water-based with significantly lower VOCs than most, minimising their impact on air quality and the associated health effects.

The oil coating we use to treat our wooden furniture and flooring, made from modified plant-based oil, is also completely environmentally-friendly, without any VOCs or solvents; the first and only oil in the world to claim these benefits.

Our range of energy-efficient window glazing options including draught-proofing, toughened, obscure, single and double glazing, acoustic and self-cleaning all help to reduce energy consumption.

Mindful methods

Superior quality furniture and sash windows made by handWe utilise the most sustainable manufacturing practices possible, as far as we can. We’re not perfect but we’re trying our best.

Our workshop is powered by solar panels, a completely renewable energy source harnessed daily, and a WT10 wood burner (fully compliant with the clean air act) is used to burn wood waste and convert it into energy to heat the space during the winter. (We also give all our sawdust to the local farmer who uses it as bedding to keep pigs and cows comfortable!)

All our bespoke furniture and made to measure joinery is made in the UK and materials are sourced locally as far as possible, keeping our carbon footprint comparatively low.

We support local suppliers and trades whenever we can, promoting independent business, enterprise and innovation wherever possible and we actively champion like-minded partners, who share our ideals.

Ultimately, we are long-time advocates of a design-led approach to sustainability and firmly believe that achieving business success and safeguarding the planet do not have to be mutually exclusive.
